How to join KYJO
Any young (12 to 18) aspiring jazz musician interested in developing big band jazz and improvisation skills is welcome to join the KYJO ‘family’.
You don’t have to be an experienced jazzer to join but potential players should be grade 4 standard, or above. The first hour of every rehearsal is open to all, giving newcomers the chance to find their ‘jazz feet’ at their own pace. The Music Director, other tutors and band members will help along the way. When they think you are ready to play at gigs, they will invite you to do so.
You can hear and see the band in action at:
- a gig - some are free, others are ticketed
- a workshop - book a place!!
- a rehearsal - you're welcome to come along - tuition and rehearsals take place in school term dates every other Tuesday evening from 7.00-9.30 pm at Invicta Grammar School in Maidstone - contact us if you'd like to come along.
The first term is free, and subsequent terms currently cost just £70.00 per term. Assistance with fees may be available.
